His story was he gave Vanchu a sob story about someone hijacking it -- well you saw what happened when I gave Vanchu the same sob story. I always found Dez's account of what happened hard to swallow, and after the take over, I am not certain he did NOT get access from Vanchau. But -- I know someone who probably DID break under his sob story -- Kyle. The one thing I've noticed about Kyle in my tenure at The Allspark is that he would crack under any amount of pressure thrown his way... which ultimately led to him being manipulated time and time again to make 'Executive decisions that were sometimes just plain @#%$ up. Hector got to him on several occations.. Charon gave him an ear full once or twice I understand, and I'm sure Dez did the same thing... which, ultimately leads me to the conclusion that Kyle gave Dez access to the Optimus87 account of his own free will. In a conversation I had with him shortly before he passed the account to me and Dez, he pretty much admitted it under the guise of some pseudo sarcasm.. but I honestly believe that's what happened.

So based on all the convoluted crap that surrounds the entire issue, my main focus was restoring order on the boards, even at the cost of letting Dez slip through the cracks. Shortly after Kyle passed us the accounts, it was evident that Vin and I were butting heads over this 'new order' and though I trusted and believed him... I deep down wondered if he would do something like he did.. he wanted The Allspark to be something it was not, and wouldnt take no for an answer... so almost immediatly after getting the shared account, I was already watching and waiting for things to settle, to see how it was going to turn out. I admit, part of not banning Dez was a pollitical move on my part.. I knew that when Vin flipped out, I was going to need all the support I could get. Its something my father taught me about choosing my battles and letting things go... for now... until the time is right.

At this point, his status is really in limbo... we, as the staff, have never really decided on what to do with him. I would like to ban him for the simple reason that I think he's an @#%$... but the fact that he rarely posts, and doesn't disrupt the board outside of his 'incident' (Which may or may not have been with Kyle's approval).. has kept him under the radar... but not under my attention. I find people like Charon to be a bigger threat to the community as a whole simply due to the constant instigating of trouble. But I think he's finally learning that people are no longer listening to what he has to say... the community, overall, is happy... and that was my plan all along. If 12 or 13 people with bad attitiudes decided they 'had enough' and move on, more power to them... but I'm damn proud of the job we've all done. Scott, Jason, and Chad are good guys, and good at what they do.. but there's a reason I've taken the role as 'leader' of the Allspark -- its like I told Vin, I get things done. What I do isn't always easy, but its fulfulling to see my hard work pay off like it has.

So, even though I may not always have time to articulate my thought process for doing things the way I do.. my intention is always what's best for the overall good of the community. There *was* a thought process for not acting on Dez at the time of the incident, as you can see above, and in the end I think I did the right thing if for no other reason than morale at The Allspark is at an all time high. No one is bitching, whining or trying to start @#%$ (with the exception of Charon it seems), and I honestly believe that folks respect the job we do in keeping the place in order, and at least listen when we ask them to do things. There will always be those who see themselves as the 'elite few', thinking that they would do a much better job than we would do, or those who just don't care enough to respect other people on the boards... but those people are in the vast minority, and overall, things seem to be going pretty smooth. And once we move to the local servers, I think it will finally be ingrained in people's heads once and for all, when we lay down the law, its for the good of the boards -- but its the law just the same, and people need to deal with that.

In a way, we're *all* creating new accounts now (but I can manually
force a post count [see my thread in general) But you're right, a lot of people were wronged and nothing was done about it.

Its going to be a real pain for me to keep up with this stuff as of next week, which is why i'm trying to get it all in order before then.

I just didn't want to get a big discussion up in the 'visible' forums.
I'm thinking about making the Mod forums private as well... there really is no reason you guys need to be under the microscope of people like
Charon anymore than the admin, when what we're doing is for the betterment of the boards... not to have to watch our backs and have @#%$ started over suggestions...

I'll probably make the mod forum on ikon private to take away the blow and if people gradually notice, oh well.
