Thanks for the recommendation, Charon. I'll look into getting a copy of that program right away. The main reason for mentioning Frontpage is the themes feature, which was explained to me by a person at work. We could make the theme of the site the logo, bg graphics, table layout, etc; only the actual content would be changed. This would minimize chances of butchering the layout but is more useful in updating all the pages using the theme at once if, for example, the navigation cell was updated.

As far as HTML editting, Notepad isn't a huge problem for me (particularly Notepad Plus). I'm pretty used to it now, and it would probably slow me down if I had to use something else. The main problem with this is that I wanted to create a set way of working on the site, in the event that someone other than myself has to work on it. It would be, to say the least, a bitch to require everyone to become relative experts in raw HTML just to put up even a minute update. If anyone has any other recommendations, I'm open to them. As I said, I'll download Hot Dog Pro and try my hand at it.

As for putting up archived posts, I need an opinion; do you want them stored there at all? If so, does it matter whether or not they are formatted in the Anniversary scheme? It'd be a whole lot easier to just store the HTML and link to it rather than make it look more of a part of the site (ezboard's page generation is pretty hairy...GAH!). With the large number of archived posts, I'd never get them all done in the new format (barring some new editting revelation I am in the dark about), but straight linking would be an unglamorous but quick solution. Opinions?

As for Allspark TV's creation from the ashes of the Spoiler forum, I will keep the spoiler archives separate from the "new" forum archive. Is this agreeable?

<techie mode>Okay, folks, I found a way to do exactly what I want to do; keep a uniform yet tabled navigation setup with simple updating of the main page and adding of new pages. It would require the use of server side includes (specifically, <!--#include file="menu.htm"-->, which my server does not allow. 200 meg of space but no SSI; it was too good to be true... </techie mode>

Pertaining to Vindicator's inquiry, this development makes the issue of the set home for the site even more pressing. Since the domains are already linked to iglou and we've had an offer for hosting there, I'm thinking that we should give that a good look. That provider would most likely be able to do the web process that I described above. Also, we need this type of thing to be tested, debugged, and setup in time for the anniversary; so we really need to get cracking on this aspect, too.

I'm still working on alternatives, but this would be supremely simple to create and maintain; create a single page for the layout, individual content pages would request the single one to be included at the beginning, and then maybe have a closing navigation page with all the necessary closing tags set up to be included at the end of the content page. Then, if someone else aside from myself needed to update it, it'd be very easy for them to do so and not have to know jack about the design nuances.

Please give me feedback on this. There is yet plenty of work to be done, and it would be awesome to have a fully functional web site up for everyone to use in time for 11/11.

I just had a thought: why not make the specs open as separate windows using JavaScript? This would make them separate from the page, thus easier to create. Also, it would reduce the load time (by virtue of making it separate from the rest of the page).

The only thing that could hamper this is the possible problems with people's browsers because of JavaScript. But people should at least have a version 3.X or above browser nowadays, anyway, so is it really an issue?
