I downloaded IE version 7 and it didn't offer to import any bookmarks from the previous version. I looked around a little and didn't see any immediate way to do that. The toolbar is very sparse, with some tiny unlabeled icons here and there. It did find my version of Adobe Acrobat Professional and added an icon for that. The tabbed browsing is immediately evident and seems easy to use. It looks like there's a learning curve for this version.

I've never heard of IceWeasel but I'll check it out.

I ended up with a Mozilla-related problem on my laptop computer. Right after I downloaded Firefox, I also downloaded a couple of extensions, one of which would let me customize a web page. I used it to play around with the Drudge Report page so I didn't have to look at all the Flash advertising on it. But it turned out that the ads changed so often that my setup didn't work very well, so I removed the extensions. But that didn't completely uninstall the extension, so now my Firefox browser is screwed up. On this computer, if I hit the "End" key on Firefox, it takes me to the end of the web page. But on the laptop, wherever I click on the page I end up with a blinking "insertion point" just as though I was in a Microsoft Word document. So when I hit the "End" key on the laptop, it takes the cursor to the end of the line of text rather than the end of the web page. And this has persisted through a couple of Firefox upgrades. So I'm understandably not too pleased with Firefox right now, and pretty happy about using Internet Explorer on the laptop.
